A Perfect Savannah Bachelorette Party

I’ve lived in Savannah for almost 5 years now, and let me tell you Savannah is the greatest destination for a fun filled Bachelorette party weekend with plenty of activities to bond and spend time with your closest girls. Almost each weekend you’ll find groups of ladies in matching t-shirts with cups in hand (Downtown Savannah allows open containers which is so convenient). Let me give you the fast facts from a local, on what you can’t miss while in Savannah with a group.

Top Reasons Savannah is the #1 spot for a Bachelorette Party

  • Convenient and small airport
  • Extremely walkable downtown
  • Uber and Lyft a plenty! No need to have a car
  • No open container policy and “To-Go Cups” for taking your drink with you as you walk
  • Picturesque squares, parks and beautiful homes full of history
  • Amazing restaurants full of delicious food
  • Super affordable from accommodations to alcohol
  • Tybee Island is a fabulous beach town and a short way away!

Accommodations

Hands down stay in an AirBnB, there are plenty in the Historic District or right off of Forsyth Park. If you stay near Forsyth its an easy walk to River Street and you have a Kroger nearby to grocery shop for breakfast, snacks and drinks. AirBnB and VRBO have great options!

If you prefer hotels, go for the Embassy Suites Downtown because of the free drinks in the evening and breakfast in the morning. 39 Rue de Jean in the lobby has the best happy hour in town with $4 well cocktails and wine/champagne. You can’t miss the best (and least expensive) oysters and bowl of mussels in your choice of broth. Excuse me while I’m drooling.

Hotel Indigo is another great hotel that is in the middle of all the action. Brice Hotel is still downtown but on the quieter end (still walkable) everywhere you need to go. Love this place!

What To Do

Image from the Savannah GA Visitors Website

A very popular attraction is the Savannah Slow Ride with a fleet of 15 seater bicycles. They stop at local bars and allow you drink, socialize and get a good feeling of the town. In addition to their pub crawl they also have a historical story tour AND a “Boos Cruise” for some insight into Savannah’s haunted past. https://www.savannahslowride.com/

Savannah Taste Experience is a great walking food tour with two different options, downtown or a bit further off the beaten path. Great to get your steps in and taste some of the amazing food that Savannah is known for!

Check Groupon for discounts on walking Ghost Tours. These also stop at pubs and bars to allow you to carry a drink while you walk around and hear about the paranormal. It’s pretty tame, but if you want a more spooky experience look into the Sorrel Weed House.

Where To Eat And Drink

Dinners:: Treylor Park and Hitch are two sister restaurants in town that are so fun and their eclectic menus are delicious. Rocks on the River is a good spot for a group to dine, make a reservation ahead of time to get a good spot! They also have an amazing bar on the roof of the Bohemian Hotel called Rocks on the Roof.

Lunch:: My favorite place for lunch is Soho South, their $10 Classic Soho Combo has the most amazing grilled cheese and cup of tomato soup that you cannot miss! Collins Quarter is a very popular spot downtown. CO is an asian eatery with fresh poke bowls (served at lunchtime only). Little Duck Diner is great for breakfast or lunch and it’s right off city market close to all the action.

Drinks:: Tequilas Town has a GREAT (and strong) margaritas and special shoutout to their tableside guacamole because it’s the greatest and I think the only place you can get tableside in town. Ordinary Bar has a big underground bar on Broughton Street with a massive list of cocktails. The Grove and Peregrin have beautiful rooftop bars you won’t want to miss. If you’re into the distillery scene, I highly recommend Ghost Coast Distillery (Stop by service Brewing on your walk there). Ghost Coast provides tours and has the most delicious cocktails. Don’t miss Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar for a super fun time!

My favorite wine bar in town is In Vino Veritas on Liberty St. It’s a great open space that can fit a group of girls. They have specials everyday in addition to the daily “Wine O’ Clock” – half off bottles from 4-7pm and on Friday & Saturday from 8-11pm is BOGO bottles! All specials are on their website.

Hang out around City Market to hear great music and plenty of food options.

Other Important Tips

  • Don’t wear heels if you plan to go down on Bay Street, the old cobblestone streets are a nightmare if you’re tipsy. Cute sandals are the way to go.
  • Yelp has some of the best suggestions around, do your research on other bars and club scenes!
  • The open container law is applicable between Forsyth Park and River Street. Plastic cups only, no bottles or flasks or cans.
